In the past, cars were much bigger, and every car had a a full-sized spare tire stashed in its trunk, ready to fully replace any flat tire. It was a much different process than today – once the flat tire was removed, and the “spare” was put on, the original tire got a patch and became the spare.
As car sizes became smaller over the years, there was less and less room in the trunk for a full-sized spare in the trunk. Obviously, something had to change, and that’s when the temporary spare tire, or “donut” was invented.
Lincoln has done it again with the incredible 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. Finally, there’s a fuel-efficient hybrid that drives exactly like its non-hybrid model. Designed with a lightweight powertrain and battery, the MKZ Hybrid handles like a dream. Incredibly, the starting price is right around $35,000 – the same as the standard model.
The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is rated at 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, so you’ll be saving a huge chunk of money at the gas pump over the next few years (the standard model is rated at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway). continue reading…
Since we live so close to the ocean, we have to take extra care in protecting our cars and trucks from the effects of the salty air. Back in the 80′s, you’d always hear about the undercarriage of cars rusting out because of the salty, humid air. Most modern cars have undercarriage protection, and the paint job is protected by clear coat. Most drivers don’t think twice about living near the ocean, but it’s important to realize that you should wash your car more often than if you lived further inland.
The salt residue can build up on your vehicle and damage the clear coat, so you’ll want to stick to a regular washing schedule to protect your investment. Even if you plan on driving your car or truck for many years, at some point you’re going to sell it or trade it in for a new vehicle – and you’ll want to get the best value possible. If your paint job has been marred by the salty air or road grime, your car won’t be worth nearly as much.

Doral Lincoln is an official drop-off location for this year’s Amigos For Kids Toy Drive. Help us support this amazing local charity by dropping off a toy any time from November 11 through December 18.
The past few years, the Miami Region of Ford Motor Company through the Ford Fund has been the title sponsor for the Amigos For Kids Toy Drive. Since 1991, Amigos For Kids has served abused, abandoned and underprivileged children and their families. With a $50,000 donation, Ford will be purchasing the wish list for 1200 children in the Miami-Dade and Broward area. We are very happy to support such a wonderful cause and organization.
If you’d like more information about Amigos For Kids, you can visit their website, or you can follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
Thanks again for helping us to support such an amazing local charity.
Everyone knows that it’s an overwhelming process to buy a car. Between picking out what you want, test driving, haggling on the price, and taking care of financing, the process takes most of the initial fun out of getting a new car. There’s also the confusing decision of whether to buy or lease. Most people don’t understand the differences, so we’re writing this blog post to help sort out the drawbacks and benefits for each option.
Summer is over, and winter will be here sooner than you think. Now is the perfect time to check your brakes, before the fall and winter weather brings more rain, which creates more dangerous driving conditions. Your vehicle should stop when you hit the brake pedal. If you have brake problems, it’s vital that you resolve them immediately – it’s obviously extremely dangerous to drive with faulty brakes. These 5 warning signs will let you know what to look for:
Everyone, from amateur home mechanic to certified expert, talks about how important an oil change is to keep your car running in tip-top shape. Over the years, many false beliefs have appeared about oil characteristics and oil changes, and because they’re published online, many people believe the oil change myths. At Dora Lincoln, we’re dedicated to providing the best service experience in all of Florida, so we want to help our customers (and potential customers) know the truth about oil changes. Here are the most common myths and the facts to disprove them:
Here we are with our first blog post! The car business is a “people business”, so we’re embracing social media in order to better connect with our customers and friends. Of course, our website will always be the main source of information on our inventory and our dealership – but we’ve added this blog to provide a more personal connection.
We’ll be posting do-it-yourself maintenance tips, vehicle updates, service specials, and more. Basically, this will be our own little corner of the web, specifically dedicated to helping our customers get the best experience they can get from whatever they’ve bought from us. Whether you’ve just driven off in a brand new Lincoln or you picked up a great used car, we’re going to post information to help you keep it running in top condition for years to come.
We’ll even post information for potential buyers. Many customers always wonder if it’s better to lease or buy, so we’ll be covering that subject in depth. We’ll also cover the benefits of driving a certified pre-owned vehicle.
Get the idea yet? We’re going to be posting tons of useful information, so make sure you either bookmark us or add us to your reader. You’ll definitely want to check back often.
Most importantly, we want you to join in the conversation! If you’ve got something to say about any of our posts, leave us a comment. In fact, leave us a comment now, and let us know what subject you’d like us to post about next! We’re here for you, so let us know!
